What is AI visibility?
A plain-language guide to AI visibility and the terms around it: GEO, AEO and AI SEO.

Why it matters
More people start research by asking an AI assistant instead of typing keywords into a search engine. The assistant writes one answer and names a handful of brands. Brands that are not named do not get considered.
Unlike a list of search results, there is no page two. Being absent from the answer is the same as being absent from the shortlist.
AI visibility, GEO, AEO and AI SEO
Generative engine optimization (GEO) means improving how generative AI engines present a brand. Answer engine optimization (AEO) means making content easy to use as a direct answer. AI SEO is an umbrella term for both, applied on top of classic SEO.
AI visibility is the outcome all of them aim at: whether and how the brand shows up in AI answers. aeoda measures that outcome, then points to the actions behind it.
How AI visibility is measured
Ask many realistic buyer questions to several AI engines, several times each, and record which brands are mentioned, in what order and which sources are cited. Turn the counts into rates and show the uncertainty.
A single answer proves nothing because AI answers vary. Repetition and a confidence range are what make the number meaningful. See our methodology for the details.
What influences AI visibility
Engines favor brands that are mentioned consistently on sources they trust, such as reviews, news, forums and well-structured sites. Technical access matters too: if AI crawlers cannot read your site, it is less likely to be used.
Typical levers are clear category pages, structured data, an llms.txt file, mentions on trusted third-party sites and answering the questions buyers actually ask.
